What’s the stupidest question you’ve ever been asked?
If you were to listen in on my interview with clients, you’d probably think I ask a bunch of stupid or at least some really simple questions. It’s not because I’m trying to be funny or I’m not prepared. I start off with simple questions for two reasons…
One… If I’m ignorant about my client’s product or service, I want to understand it from a simple point of view. What does it do? How does it help? Once I know the basics, then I can ask more pointed questions that give me a deeper dive into what they’re offering.
Two… I want to capture their specific voice and experience. I know how I would describe Star Wars. But interview George Lucas, Mark Hamill, Dave Filoni or Ashley Eckstein and you’ll get a response that opens your eyes to a whole new level of passion and understanding.
Until next time, may the Force be with you.
