How do you take your coffee?
For years, I’ve been drinking my coffee the same way, every single day – with a big dollop of sweet cream added to it. But seasonal allergy issues have forced me to cut back on my dairy intake so I’ve transitioned to black coffee with two teaspoons of sugar. I honestly thought I’d hate it because I’ve always thought coffee to be exceedingly bitter. But the truth is I now prefer it this way. I get more flavor out of each delicious sip.
In business and life, we get used to doing things a certain way and tend to have a hard time letting go. We think things have to stay the same because that’s the only way we know it will work. But when outside factors (like seasonal allergies or COVID-19) force us to change our routine, we often find better, quicker, cheaper or more efficient ways of doing things.
So instead of fighting the urge to change, try embracing it instead. It doesn’t mean you have to stick with the new idea. But you’ll never know if it’s better unless you try.
Until next time, may the Force be with you…
