You Should Re-Watch MLK’s “I Have a Dream” Speech

I never listened to Dr. King’s most famous speech until a few years ago. Like most people, I had heard snippets here and there, but I never took the time to watch the whole thing. Once I finally did, I realized exactly how truly powerful and important it was.

In light of the inner conflict our nation finds itself in, I find hope, courage and inspiration in Dr. King’s message. As he said, we must realize that the destiny of every American is tied together. This destructive notion of ME vs YOU that we seem to have embraced is hurting our great nation. It needs to end so we can carry forth as US.

“We cannot walk alone. And as we walk, we must make the pledge that we shall always march ahead. We cannot turn back.”

It’s time to realize Dr. King’s dream so we can come together as a society, sit at the table of brotherhood and truly live out the truth that all men and women were created equal with the right to pursue a better life, liberty and happiness.

So I encourage everyone to take fifteen minutes and listen to his speech. It might just be the most important thing you do all day.

Until next time, may the Force be with you.
