Step 1 - Introductions

We’ll start out slow with a quick call to say hi and talk about what you need. You’ll ask me whatever questions you want and I’ll ask you about your goals, challenges and budget.

 

We might even talk about Jar Jar Binks. Who knows? I guess it depends if we have the time.  

 

If I’m not your guy or vice versa, no worries. I might know another copywriter who can help you out.

 

But, if we’re both getting good vibes about this, we’ll set up a longer meeting – face-to-face or video conference – to discuss your project in more detail. Topics include your challenges, goals, budget and expectations from both sides.

Step 2 - Planning

After going over the notes from our meetings, I’ll determine the best way to solve your problem and what digital marketing assets you should leverage to meet your objectives while getting the best ROI.

 

I’ll send you a firm quote and a scope of work. If you agree, I’ll send you a contract and an invoice for a 50% down deposit. Then we’ll schedule a start date and timeline for your project.

Step 3 - Discovery

This is when I really start geeking out.

 

I’ll do a deep dive into your business and industry.

 

But I can’t do it alone.

I need your help because I’ll be asking for some, if not all, of the following:

 

  • Relevant collateral, materials and documentation
  • Interviews with key personnel and/or customers
  • Questionnaires to be filled out by key personnel and/or customers

 

With that information, I’ll start to really understand your business – your products, services, backstory, brand personality and target audience.

 

Plus, I’ll do more research to see what your competitors are doing so I can figure out how to make you stand out and offer a better solution. 

Step 4 - Creation

Using the infromation you provided and insight from your competitors, I’ll write up a messaging brief.

 

This will break down the challenges faced by your target audience, your offer and how it answers those challenges.

 

Then I’ll write and deliver the first draft of your new copy to review.

 

It’ll also include notes on why certain things are written the way they are and follow-up questions to mysteries that come up during the writing process. 

Step 5 - Revisions

After I send you the first draft, we’ll hop on a call for a copy review. This is where you tell me what’s gold and what’s trash.

 

Don’t worry. You won’t hurt my feelings. Plus, you’ll tell me the answer to those little questions I’ve sprinkled into the copy. 

 

Once I know what you want me to change, I’ll take a nap. I don’t know what your day is like, but feel free to do the same.

 

After I’m refreshed and recharged, I’ll get back to the keyboard to make the revisions.

Step 6 - Final Draft

This is it.

 

This is what we’ve been working toward this whole time. It’s time for me to send you the final draft.

 

You’ll send me payment for the remaining 50% of the invoice and your new content will be free to roam the internet, telling your story, connecting with your audience, converting prospects into customers and driving your sales.  

Step 7 - The After Party

Once your project is complete, it’s time to party like an Ewok on the Forest Moon of Endor.

 

Feel free to indulge moderately. 

 

In a day or two, I’ll send you a short survey and ask you to write a short testimonial telling everyone how cool I am.

 

It’s all about that street cred, right?

 

After that, we can also talk about how we can do more to promote your business with your other digital assets.
