Step 1 - Introductions
We’ll start slowly with a quick call to say hi and discuss what you need. You’ll ask me anything you want and I’ll ask you about your goals, challenges and budget.
We might even talk about Jar Jar Binks. Who knows? I guess it depends if we have time.
If I’m not your guy or vice versa, no worries. I might know someone else who can help you out.
But, if we’re both getting good vibes about this, we’ll set up a longer meeting – face-to-face or video conference. We’ll discuss your project in more detail – your challenges, goals and budget – to establish the scope of work and expectations from both sides.
Step 2 - Planning
After reviewing the notes from our meetings, I’ll determine the best way to solve your problem and what digital marketing assets you should leverage to meet your objectives while getting the best ROI.
I’ll send you a firm quote and a scope of work. When you agree, I’ll send you a contract and an invoice for 50% of my fee. Then we’ll schedule a start date and timeline for your project.
Step 3 - Discovery
Are you ready to start geeking out? Because I am!
I’ll do a deep dive to understand your business and industry. But I can’t do this alone.
To do this right, I need your help because no one knows your business better than you. So I’ll be asking for some, if not all, of the following:
- Relevant collateral, materials and documentation
- Interviews with key personnel and/or customers
- Questionnaires to be filled out by key personnel and/or customers
This information is what I need to have a thorough understanding of your business – your products, services, backstory, brand personality and target audience. Then I can create your copy or content with the voice and tone you want.
Step 4 - Creation
Using the information you provided and insight from your competitors, I’ll write up a messaging brief, breaking it down into three essential keys:
- The challenge your audience is facing.
- Your offer.
- How your offer answers your audience’s challenge.
Once I have that, I’ll write the first draft of your new copy.
It’ll also include notes on the copy and follow-up questions to little mysteries that pop up during the writing process.
Step 5 - Revisions
After I send you the first draft, we’ll hop on a call for a copy review. This is when you tell me what’s gold and what’s trash.
Don’t worry. You won’t hurt my feelings. Plus, you’ll tell me the answer to those little questions I’ve sprinkled into the copy.
Once we know what revisions we need, I’ll take a nap. I don’t know what your day is like, but feel free to do the same.
After I’m refreshed and recharged, I’ll get back to the keyboard to make the revisions.
Step 6 - Final Draft
This is what we’ve been working toward this whole time. It’s time for me to send you the final draft.
You’ll send me payment for the remaining 50% of the project fee. Your new content will be free to roam the internet, tell your story, connect with your audience, convert prospects into customers and drive your sales.
Step 7 - The After Party
Once your project is complete, it’s time to party like an Ewok on the Forest Moon of Endor.
Feel free to indulge moderately.
In a day or two, I’ll send you a short survey and ask you to write a short testimonial telling everyone how cool I am.
